Kenai Alaska Airsoft is dedicated to airsoft and the expansion of the sport. However in recent weeks we have come upon the trouble of finding a permanent field to play on that does not require a fee and has more than just trees on it. I have already gone to the Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) in search of land that we could play on and found none readily available.
I would like to appeal to the borough for a recreational land grant that would be used for airsoft since there is no facility on the peninsula where airsoft is allowed to be played aside from on private land. I think if skateboarders, ATV riders, snowmobile riders, etc. can obtain places to carry out their sport then we should be able to as well.
To appeal to the borough for some sort of recreational site to play airsoft there are several things we need to do. First off assuming I can get the borough to consider granting a section of land for the use of airsoft I/we will need to make a presentation to the borough as to why they should let us use their land.
To make a presentation to the borough we need to be more than Kenai Alaska Airsoft which is run by the Aurora Demons Airsoft team. We need to become an organization/association with a official name and doctrines. I propose we form the Central Peninsula Airsoft Association (CPAA), in order to form ourselves as an association we need to create a mission statement telling what the CPAA is all about. In addition we will have to have a somewhat detailed set of safety regulations that we follow.
We would have to renovate the website a bit to make it look more professional and less like a bunch of teenagers and young guys raising hell with replica weapons. Wouldn't take a whole lot of work but it would be significant. My reason for renovating the site is that if we go to the borough they will undoubtedly visit our website and if they see a bunch of rag tag kids holding guns they might not take us seriously. Also I would like to come up with a more official name like CPAA and have a mission statement and detailed rules section.
Finding a permanent place to play is my number 1 goal right now and I have begun to take action but I need everybody's help to do it. Airsoft is all about fun, but to have fun we need a place to play, and we need to be semi professional to obtain an area to play from the borough.
Keep in mind this is a big undertaking and will require work, however I think it is quite possible that if we approach the borough correctly we will get a place to play. Also since I have begun working with the borough already on this I ask that we stay legal and that if anyone from Kenai Airsoft wants to take any action to solve our problem that they notify me first for the simple fact that working together is better than two people working in opposite directions. Thanks for reading and feel free to comment
